As technology develops from time to time, internet can be accessed easier through smartphone and cellphone digital. By using these digital devices, users can send messages and observe websites without being limited by time and place.Unfortunately, easy access is not balanced with the user ability in understanding the media itself. Communication tool that is more often used is social media such as what’s app. Moreover, they also communicate through another instant messenger who has equal function like blackberry messenger (BBM), Line and Skype. In contrast, users are unlikely to read online news websites. This tendency becomes the point of interest of researches to find out to what extent the internet users in line with media literacy.According to Indonesia Internet Service Provider Association (AsosiasiPenyelenggaraJasa Internet Indonesia) and BPS Statistic Indonesia,  it was found that internet users in Indonesia have grown since three years ago up to 13 percent or become 71.19 million people until the end of 2013.According to research survey MarkPlus Insight, they are “netizen” or internet users who spend more than three hours per day on internet. Moreover, they are increasing from 24,2 Million people in 2012 and become  31,7 million people in 2013.Theory that is being used in this research is media literacy. This research used qualitative method by gathering the data through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to private university students who spent for internet 5 hour per day and less than 5 hour per day.The result of this research stated that students who access the Internet below 5 hours per day are already busy with work and not too intense uses the internet either via smartphone or computer. Unlike the students who access the internet over 5 hours per day. Almost every time they use the Internet for social media and instant messaging (instant messenger) through smart phones. Critical attitude towards the media message depends on the information of interest to the informants.
