The phenomenon of “cabe-cabean” had become an issue among Indonesian teens in 2013 to 2014. Its presence is strongly related with the role of the media in terms of the coverage, such as Kompas.com and Liputan6.com,who served their pages with special reports on the topic. This study examines how the media report their news, usingUrsDahinden framing analysis and the concept of media functionality. The results showed thatKompas.com coverage this issue from different angles,along with its function as a media watchdog and social correlation, while Liputan6.com reports the newsin a more fun way and tend to entertain yet to conveys social heritage.
