On the other hand, shark existence is considered critical\u00a0 for\u00a0 sustainability\u00a0 in\u00a0 the\u00a0 marine\u00a0 area.\u00a0 In 2012, Savesharks Indonesia has started an online campaign\u00a0 on\u00a0 Twitter\u00a0 as\u00a0 their\u00a0 effort\u00a0 to\u00a0 raise public awareness of the critical role of sharks\u2019 conservation.\u00a0 However, social \u00a0media\u00a0 activism\u00a0 has the possibility to lead into \u2018slacktivism\u2019, or \u2018feel good\u2019\u00a0 activism;\u00a0 without\u00a0 creating\u00a0 a meaningful impact\u00a0 for\u00a0 the\u00a0 cause.\u00a0 Based\u00a0 on\u00a0 Lovejoy\u00a0 &amp; Saxton\u00a0\u00a0 (2012)\u00a0 \u00a0framework\u00a0\u00a0 of\u00a0\u00a0 communicative functions\u00a0 in\u00a0 Twitter\u00a0 environmental\u00a0 advocacy\u00a0 and Lim\u2019s (2013) argument of political implications of social\u00a0 media\u00a0 use\u00a0 for\u00a0 activism,\u00a0 this\u00a0 article\u00a0 is intended\u00a0 to\u00a0 explore\u00a0 the\u00a0 relationship\u00a0 between online environmental activism and its implication toward the cause. On the first stage, a content analysis\u00a0\u00a0 was\u00a0\u00a0 conducted\u00a0\u00a0 to\u00a0\u00a0 explore\u00a0\u00a0 the communicative\u00a0 functions\u00a0 of\u00a0 Savesharks\u00a0 Twitter campaign. On\u00a0 the\u00a0 second\u00a0 stage, \u00a0we\u00a0 conduct interviews\u00a0 with\u00a0 Savesharks\u2019\u00a0 followers\u00a0 to investigate\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0\u00a0 level\u00a0\u00a0 of\u00a0\u00a0 activism\u00a0\u00a0 that\u00a0\u00a0 the audience\u00a0 refers\u00a0 to\u00a0 in\u00a0 this\u00a0 campaign.\u00a0 Results indicate\u00a0\u00a0 that\u00a0 \u00a0Savesharks\u00a0\u00a0 Indonesia\u00a0\u00a0 online activism has reached the action stage where the audience were involved not only in online realm of activism but also in offline forms.
